It all started March 15, 2003.  The seed had been planted; they just didn't know it then.  Kathleen Brown and DeLoyce Tyler were introduced to a quilting class offered through their quilt guild educational program.  They fell in love with this old traditional quilting method handed down from the Appalachian Mountain Craftspeople...as the story went.

Next came a Quilt Shop Hop day in April.  Upon finding a bundle of fabric that neither could do without, the idea was formed of using the Double Stitch and the new fabric for an annual quilt guild challenge.  It all came together in August at the County Fair when the framed quilt art work won "Best of Show" in the small quilt category at the Quilt Show.

These two ambitious, energetic women from Superior, Montana knew this was what they had been looking for.  They decided that they could combine their talents and love of quilting into a small business adventure.  A partnership was formed and Mountain Patchwork was established August 13, 2003.

Because of their love of quilting, both ladies were instrumental in founding the 'Cabin Fever Quilt Guild' and both have served as President.  The guild was organized in January 2001 and has grown to approximately 60 members.

Both have sewn most of their lives, sewing their own clothes, crafts, counted cross-stitch and of course all types of quilting.

Kathleen is married and they have a son and 2 grandchildren.  Kathleen loves doing many things which includes gardening, photography, reading, walking, painting and home improvements to name a few of her interests.  She is currently serving on two boards for her local community development.

DeLoyce is married and has three children and three grandchildren.  She does not understand how anyone could be bored, there is so much to do and not enough time to do all you would like.  She also likes to do a variety of things such as yard work, walking, reading, genealogy and keeping in touch with family and friends.  She is involved with her church and has helped with 4-H sewing.

Thank you for taking the time to express an interest in Mountain Patchwork. They hope you enjoy the Art Work, Kits, and the patterns.

Check back often for new and exciting additions.
